Job Posting: MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) Buyer
As an MRO Buyer, you manage all indirect buying and are an essential role to support day-to-day operations. This Buyer ensures MRO systems support the preventative maintenance program driving uptime improvements and achievement of cost reduction goals.
You will do this by:
- Adhere to Fisher Barton safety, quality procedures, regulations, and business code of ethics
- Source and purchase MRO materials (spare parts, electrical components, tooling, lubricants, welding supplies, PPE, etc.)
- Issue, manage, and track purchase orders, ensuring accuracy, approvals, and timely delivery
- Place orders for maintenance parts, supplies and contract work; includes obtaining prices, scheduling
- Expedite critical orders to prevent production or maintenance delays
- Working with information from Maintenance, Engineering and Production, identify and establish appropriate parts inventory levels. Enter parts and supply inventory requirements, purchases, and usage into established recordkeeping tools; conduct periodic reviews of inventory levels to ensure recordkeeping accuracy and sufficient supply levels as required.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with approved vendors and service providers
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms across FB divisions to minimize costs
- Evaluate supplier performance (quality, reliability, cost) and identify alternative suppliers to mitigate risk
- Structure and manage Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs
- Streamline and consolidate suppliers across FB divisions
- Monitor MRO inventory levels, reorder points, and usage trends
- Design and optimize MRO inventory systems to balance cost and operational risk
- Maintain daily cycle count program and reduce excess/obsolete inventory
- Track spending against budget and provide cost analysis reporting
- Identify, initiate, and track cost-saving strategies (vendor consolidation, standardization, bulk purchasing, etc.) to meet annual targets
- Ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate
- Generate purchase orders and obtain purchase approvals
- Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: Associate degree or Equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years relevant working experience in a purchasing setting
- Experience working directly with suppliers or customers
- Experience with an ERP system

Work Environment:
- This position is primarily based in an office setting with regular interaction with maintenance, production, and warehouse teams. Work involves frequent use of computers, Epicor system, and standard office equipment, along with occasional time spent on the manufacturing floor to coordinate inventory, parts, and supplier needs.
