Buyer Job Description A manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Buyer to support purchasing activities related to raw materials, tooling, and inventory. This role will work closely with operations, production, and suppliers to ensure material availability, cost efficiency, and inventory accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on buying experience within manufacturing, a strong understanding of inventory control, and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems. Responsibilities Manage the purchasing of raw materials, tooling, stock, and consignment parts to support production schedules. Create, maintain, and release purchase orders in an ERP/MRP system. Work directly with suppliers on pricing, lead times, availability, and delivery performance. Support inventory management, including stock levels, cycle counts, and replenishment strategies. Assist with consignment and vendor-managed inventory (VMI) programs. Collaborate with production, planning, and operations teams to align purchasing with demand. Troubleshoot material shortages, expedite orders, and resolve supplier or system issues. Support data accuracy and process improvements during ERP transitions or system changes. Essential Skills 3-5+ years of experience in a Buyer or Purchasing role within a manufacturing environment. Candidates with 2-3 years of relevant experience will also be considered. Experience purchasing materials, tooling, and production-related inventory. Strong working knowledge of inventory control principles. Experience working in ERP/MRP systems (such as IQMS, DCD, Epicor, SAP, Oracle, Plex, or similar). Ability to work cross-functionally with suppliers, production, and leadership teams. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in machining, fabrication, or industrial manufacturing environments. Exposure to ERP system implementations or migrations. Familiarity with consignment inventory and supplier performance tracking. Advanced Excel or reporting skills. Work Environment The role operates in a collaborative onsite team environment with working hours from Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 5 PM. The organization is currently undergoing an ERP implementation transition from DCD to IQMS. This position offers a six-month contract with the potential for permanent placement, contingent on job performance and professionalism. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valley City, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $36.05/hr.
