Purpose
Reporting to the NPI Sourcing Director, the Sr. Principal Sourcing role is responsible for developing, managing, and implementing sourcing strategies and best practices that support New Product Introductions (NPI) from concept through commercial launch. This role places a strong emphasis on Design for Excellence (DFx), Early Supplier Involvement (ESI), prototype-to-production sourcing strategies, and new supplier discovery and qualification.
The Sr. Principal Sourcing role will lead global development, implementation, qualification, and continuous improvement of sourcing best practices within the Product Development Process (GDP). This individual will play a critical role in ensuring supply chain readiness, cost competitiveness, risk mitigation, and scalability for new product launches across PerkinElmer's global manufacturing footprint.
This role requires the ability to work cross-functionally with R&D and NPI team members across multiple complex programs simultaneously. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, influencing, and collaboration skills while partnering with R&D, Project Management, Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Global Commodity Management, Quality, and Corporate Leadership to ensure successful product launches.
Additionally, this role will:
Drive early sourcing engagement in product development cycles
Develop and execute supplier selection and qualification strategies
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks during product development
Support cost modeling, should-cost analysis, and value engineering initiatives
Ensure alignment between product design, supply chain capabilities, and manufacturing strategies
Lead supplier negotiations related to prototypes, ramp, and production volumes
Support global NPI programs across multiple regions and business units .

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Lead sourcing strategy development for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs from concept through production launch
Drive early supplier involvement (ESI) to influence design, cost, manufacturability, and supply chain risk mitigation
Partner with R&D and Engineering teams to implement Design for Excellence (DFx) principles, including Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Cost (DFC), and Design for Supply Chain (DFSC)
Develop and execute prototype-to-production sourcing strategies, including supplier selection, qualification, and ramp planning
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to support technology, cost, capacity, and geographic diversification requirements
Conduct supplier discovery, due diligence, and risk assessments for new and sole-sourced components and technologies
Lead commercial negotiations for prototype, pilot, and production volumes, including pricing structures, capacity commitments, and lead times
Partner with Global Commodity Management to ensure alignment with long-term sourcing strategies and preferred supplier frameworks
Support cost modeling, should-cost analysis, and value engineering initiatives to meet product cost targets
Drive supply chain readiness reviews and ensure supplier capability aligns with product launch timelines
Collaborate with Quality and Supplier Quality Engineering to support supplier qualification, PPAP, and validation activities
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including sole-source dependencies, long lead-time components, and capacity constraints
Support global NPI programs across multiple regions, including coordination with international manufacturing sites and suppliers
Ensure sourcing deliverables are aligned with Product Development Process (PDP) milestones and gate requirements
Drive continuous improvement of NPI sourcing processes, tools, and best practices
Provide executive-level updates on sourcing risks, cost status, and supplier readiness for key NPI programs
Mentor and provide guidance to sourcing team members supporting NPI programs

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field
10+ years of strategic sourcing experience, with a focus on NPI, R&D, or complex manufacturing environments
Demonstrated success managing global sourcing and supplier development initiatives
Experience implementing DFx principles, early supplier involvement, and prototype-to-production sourcing strategies
Strong knowledge of supplier qualification, risk assessment, and regulatory/compliance requirements for global supply chains
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment
Strong negotiation skills with experience in both prototype and production volume contracts
Experience with cost modeling, should-cost analysis, and value engineering
Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
Experience supporting supply chains across multiple geographies, including APAC, EMEA, and Americas
Proficient with Product Development Processes (PDP) and NPI stage-gate methodology
Strong SAP background
We are seeking a results driven Sales Representative to help drive volume sales and expansion of PerkinElmer's Materials Characterization product portfolio consisting of Molecular Spectroscopy and Thermal Analysis instruments within the Analytical Solutions Group. This strategic sales role is designed for a technically skilled professional with a strong foundation in materials science, chemistry, or related disciplines, bringing proven expertise in scientific instrumentation and capital equipment sales. In this role, you'll actively prospect and identify new opportunities and accounts for our Material Characterization products, while managing and growing business and relationships with existing accounts. Additionally, duties include presenting PerkinElmer capabilities in the marketplace, providing an interface to the customer, and representing PerkinElmer products and services in an assigned territory. The territory for this position includes MA, NY, CT, ME, NH, RI, and VT . The individual must be located within the sales territory described and will be required to travel overnight ~60% of the time and work with the individual product sales & service teams.

Responsibilities
Grow Sales Volume. Execute a sales plan that is part of the region's and company's strategic objectives. Account management of our current customer base, identification of new targeted accounts, participation in trade shows and improvement of overall market share and profitability by utilizing resources effectively. The new hire's responsibility is to develop a plan for each of the product lines to ensure that each line is fairly represented and make sure compensation margins meet company goals.
Develop and implement business plans. Maintain an effective time and territory management plan that includes an ability to present business and technical information, identify customer needs and trends, promote and position PerkinElmer support services to customers, provide information about techniques and products, follow up on inquiries about goods and services, maintain customer information utilizing approved information tools and technologies such as the company's Customer Relationship Software (CRM), timely updates to opportunity funnel and weekly forecasts, and rigorous funnel management in order to achieve/improve monthly forecasting accuracy and growth targets.
Cultivate partnerships with customers and other suppliers to provide customer solutions. Facilitate solving customer problems by recommending solutions that leverage your knowledge of competitive offerings and market dynamics. Requires that you maintain the necessary technical selling capabilities to function in a consultative role for the customer.
Teamwork. Work closely with regional extended sales team, service team, product specialists, and business units to promote a high level of customer service. This dedicated Inorganic Sales Specialist will provide product support to the rest of his or her team. Provide local support for planned customer events throughout the year.
Basic Requirements:
Undergraduate with 5-8 years experience or Graduate degree with 3-5 years experience in Materials Science, Chemistry or related field.
Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time throughout the territory including overnight travel.
Must reside within the assigned territory.
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical proficiency with scientific instrumentation, in particular, Molecular Spectroscopy and/or Thermal Analysis techniques (FTIR, UV-Vis-NIR, DSC/TGA type instruments) is strongly preferred.
Experience with consultative sales approach, identifying customer pain points and positioning solutions to their needs, while managing complex sales cycle and stakeholders typically associated with capital equipment sales.
Familiarity selling capital equipment into mid- and large-size pharma companies.
Effective communication skills with strong verbal, negotiation and relationship-building capability across all levels of an organization.
Basic understanding of CRM systems (Salesforce), sales KPIs, territory planning, lead and demand generation activities.
Ability to efficiently juggle multiple accounts and opportunities; prior knowledge of the territory in a similar position is a plus.
The annualcompensation range for this full-time position is $160,000 to $165,000 USD. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
