The ideal candidate can work with our large base of customers by delivering quality optical care and outstanding and friendly customer service. You can assist patients with eyeglasses fittings, eyewear testing, and other optical dispensing. You also possess strong sales skills by demonstrating a high level of knowledge about our products and determining our patients’ needs for eyewear so you can recommend specific accessories or enhancements for glasses. As an optician, you are essential to the clinic’s success. The collaboration between the optical staff and doctors delivers an excellent customer experience to our community. 



Reports directly to Department Supervisor and/or Optical General Manager.



  • Provide prompt, courteous, and professional service while maintaining excellent customer service in times of high-volume patient traffic.
  • Prepare, submit, and complete appropriate follow-up on all orders to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Verify and dispense optical eyewear following practice standards, policy, and procedure.
  • Complete necessary documentation of patient requests, concerns, comments, etc. in the electronic health records. 
  • Provide proper education on lens materials and technology in addition to explaining insurance benefits and how they can be maximized.
  • Perform repairs, adjustments, and other troubleshooting in a timely and optimistic manner.
  • Maintain professional and collaborative relationships with Optometrists and Ophthalmologists in the practice.
  • Conduct billing and payment functions.
  • Answer phone throughout the day and take messages as needed.



  • 1-2 years Optical Experience preferred.
  • High School graduate/GED preferred.
  • Experience in retail a plus.



  • Effective listening skills with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and be able to perform tasks with very little supervision.
  • Always maintains a positive focus on customer service.
  • Demonstrates reliability and initiative. 
  • Ability to observe all HIPAA and safety rules.



  • This is an active position that may involve standing and sitting for extended periods in a fast-paced environment. 
  • The candidate will need to lift 10 lbs. from floor to waist periodically.
  • The position requires the ability to push, pull, bend, reach, and use the staircase multiple times a day.
  • Must have the physical and mental stamina to work rapidly and with accuracy over long periods.
