GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
The cashier's main objective is to provide outstanding, friendly customer service through speedy and accurate recording of customers merchandise. Operate the cash registers and other equipment. Responsible for accurate transaction, money handling, and balancing of cashier till at the end of his/her shift. Will stock, organize and clean the register areas.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Smile and greet all customers and provide them with outstanding prompt and courteous service.
Make 3 second eye contact at the beginning of the customer's transaction, and say thank you at the end of the their transaction.
Operate cash register system accurately at all times.
Accurately record items to be purchased; cashiers are prohibited from servicing family members.
Follow proper payment handing and change giving procedures according to training guidelines.
Accurately balance the cash drawer at the end of shift.
Must maintain cash till and check stand work area clean, organized and free of clutter; personal items must be stored in lockers and not under the check stand.
Must not have open food or beverages in the check stand area; no eating or gum chewing.
Thorough knowledge of produce codes; must be able to identify and differentiate between all produce items sold.
Adhere to all State laws and Company policy on alcohol and tobacco sales.
Adhere to all State regulations and Company policy on WIC and EBT transactions.
Understand the cashier codes and properly use intercom system.
Respond to customer requests; call manager for assistance when needed.
Offer carry out assistance to customers when needed eg. large orders, customer requests.
Bag customer groceries adhering to proper bagging procedures.
Be alert for items stored in the bottom of basket.
Adhere to cashier dress code, grooming, jewelry and nail policy.
Use all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
Ensure that the highest standards of housekeeping and safety in the front end are followed.
Work safely and be aware of co-workers and customer safety at all times.
Work as a team member, assist co-workers when needed.
Treat co-workers and customers respectfully at all times. Do not use obscene and/or profane language or gestures.
Abide by all store rules, and company policies as stated in Company's Employee Handbook.
Contact your front end management team or store director regarding any questions, problems, or concerns.
Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
Must have a good attitude, friendly and courteous personality, and enjoy working with the public.
Speak, understand and read English.
Speak and understand Spanish
Must be able to count and perform simple math calculations without error.
Must be able to identify and differentiate between various varieties of fruits and vegetables and learn the codes associated with them.
Must be able to attend, and successfully complete Vallarta Supermarkets cashier training program.
HELPFUL SKILLS:
Prior retail/supermarket cashier experience.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must exhibit a responsible, professional, and positive attitude towards the job.
Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including weekends and holidays.
Must be able to transfer to other locations within a reasonable commute of home store.
Must be able to document ability to legally work in the US.

- Information We Collect about Applicants
We need you to provide certain information in order for you to complete your application for employment with the Company. The following provides the categories of Personal Information we may collect about applicants as part of the application process, and/or our employees if ultimately hired.
- Personal Identifiers. We may collect your name, driver's license or state identification card number, passport number or other government identification number (including U.S. work authorization number), Social Security information, residence/postal address, email address(es), phone number(s), and other contact information during the application and recruitment process. We may collect your emergency contact information as well. If you are hired, we may collect additional personal identifiers about you to facilitate the employment relationship.

- Biometric Information. We may collect your fingerprints to facilitate the employment relationship, if you are hired, and required as part of the hiring/employment process.

Depending on your role/duties with the Company, we may collect information regarding your criminal history, driving history, and credit history as part of our employment background check. We also collect information regarding your professional and employment history and other qualifications you provide in your employment application, including references, skills/abilities, employment goals and expectations, and other related information (if you choose to provide them).
- Education Information. We collect information regarding your professional and education history to the extent provided in your resume/application.
- Thermal or other Health-Related Information. If you apply in-person or come to our worksite(s) as part of the application process, we may need to take your temperature or other similar information as part of our health protection policies. However, this information is not retained, and will only be obtained if required by law.
- Additional Information. We may gather information about your potential employment with the Company, such as the company location/facility to which you are assigned, position and description of duties, fulltime and part-time status, pay rate, as well as descriptions about your job performance and skills.
- Purposes for Collection of Your Personal Information
We use the above categories of personal information for the following business purpose(s):
- To make recruitment and employment decisions, including assessing your application and qualifications for employment with us.
- To conduct and verify background checks (where applicable).
- If hired, to facilitate onboarding, payroll, benefit, and leave of absence administration
