Smyth is seeking a Sales Representative that has a strong desire to solve customer problems through the products and services that Smyth provides, specifically in the flexible packaging market space.
The ideal candidate will:
- Possess a strong background and experience with flexible packaging accounts in the consumer packaging goods market (shelf-stable foods, pet/animal products, household goods, and personal care products).
- Exhibit a broad understanding of packaging materials, constructions, and formats that support horizontal and vertical form-fill-seal, lidding films, wrap labels, and pre-made pouch applications.
- Demonstrate a track record of managing a customer through the full sales cycle, leveraging their project management skills from initial contact through customer onboarding and production.
The experienced Sales Representative must be process oriented and technically adept with a pro-active operational mindset in this specific business segment.
Unlimited earning potential: Smyth has an aggressive compensation plan for its sales team. The plan has no cap and comes with a base draw that is negotiated based on the experience of the candidate. The plan also comes with a car allowance and all travel and expenses are reimbursed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and maintain strong relationships with both existing and potential customers operating in the Flexible Packaging market space
- Identify, engage, and qualify potential suitable customers
- Understand and effectively articulate Smyth’s offerings, features and benefits to customers
- Assess customer needs and pain points to create, present, and demonstrate product and service recommendations
- Negotiate terms and conditions necessary for securing the sale to achieve and exceed sales targets
- Utilize reporting to track sales performance and forecast future sales
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE MUST DEMONSTRATE
- Manufacturing and operational knowledge and experience with Flexible Packaging formats and materials that will create credibility and trust
- Thorough understanding of Smyth’s products and the technologies leveraged to advance customer needs
- Time management, organization, and prioritization skills that create and foster desired outcomes with each project
- Customer service abilities to build and maintain positive relationships from start to finish, both internally and with the customer
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to build and maintain relationships
- Sales techniques, strategies, and best practices to inform and persuade customers and negotiate favorable terms necessary for closing deals
- Understanding of customer pain points, identifying and resolving issues and concerns by bringing multiple solutions
- Ability to adjust to changing markets conditions and customer needs, overcoming obstacles while staying focused on achieving the customer goals
