We’re seeking a Director of Purchasing to join our Finance team in Williamsport, PA—someone who sees the bigger picture behind every purchase order and vendor partnership. In this role, you’ll ensure that vital equipment, apparel, and services are delivered with efficiency and care, directly supporting the programs that bring youth sports to life.

This full-time exempt position has core hours of Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. While most work is done during normal business hours, business travel and events may require working in the evenings and on weekends. Occasional (<10%) travel may be required.

About the Role
Reporting to executive leadership, the Director of Purchasing leads the full scope of procurement operations—strategy, sourcing, vendor relations, and team leadership. You’ll play a vital role in streamlining processes, managing vendor partnerships, and ensuring financial stewardship across all purchasing activities. This role is ideal for a proven procurement professional who thrives in a purpose-driven environment and enjoys balancing big-picture strategy with tactical execution.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement & Policy Leadership
- Develop and lead procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals and industry trends.
- Establish cost-effective, ethical, and scalable procurement policies and procedures.
- Monitor market dynamics and supply chain risks, adjusting strategies proactively.
Vendor & Contract Management
- Build strong, lasting relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability, cost-efficiency, and quality.
- Lead contract negotiations and enforce supplier performance through KPIs.
- Oversee vendor selection, evaluation, and compliance processes.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee all purchasing operations including RFPs, sourcing, order processing, and delivery.
- Embrace procurement technologies to streamline processes and enhance reporting accuracy.
- Ensure timely and effective procurement for events, uniforms, gear, marketing, and organizational needs.
- Coordinate logistics and supply planning with internal departments and external partners.
Team & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, IT, Merchandise, Regional Operations, and volunteer leaders.
- Support sponsor and partner purchasing obligations and special events logistics.
Reporting & Analytics
- Maintain accurate procurement records and contract documentation.
- Analyze spend, ROI, pricing trends, and forecasting to support data-driven decisions.
- Align procurement activity with departmental and organizational budgets.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–7 years of progressive procurement experience, preferably in a nonprofit or event-driven environment.
- Proven leadership in purchasing, vendor negotiation, and team management.
- Highly proficient in MS Office.
- Experience with procurement software, inventory systems, and financial reconciliation.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- High integrity, emotional intelligence, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
Preferred:
- Experience sourcing customized apparel (uniforms, jerseys, caps).
- Familiarity with youth sports, baseball/softball operations, or nonprofit program management.

Work Environment & Requirements
- Standard office setting with occasional travel to events, vendors, and tradeshows.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and lift up to 30 lbs.

- Valid driver’s license and insurance required for business travel.
