Summary: The Inventory Analyst for Ashley Retail Global is responsible for providing broad inventory support including RTV (Return to Vendor) management, AFI quality/credit issue resolution, liquidation coordination, and data-heavy inventory analysis. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights that support business objectives and enhance the customer experience. Responsibilities:
  • Manage Return to Vendor (RTV) processes, including documentation, coordination, and tracking of returns
  • Investigate and resolve AFI quality issues and credit discrepancies in partnership with manufacturing and quality teams
  • Coordinate liquidation activities for slow-moving, damaged, or obsolete inventory
  • Conduct comprehensive, data-heavy inventory analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks
  • Analyze inventory levels, turnover rates, and product performance across Ashley Retail Global locations
  • Monitor and report on inventory accuracy, shrinkage, and discrepancies
  • Develop and maintain inventory forecasting models to optimize stock levels and minimize excess inventory
  • Collaborate with merchandising, supply chain, retail operations, and manufacturing teams to ensure product availability and quality
  • Generate regular reports and dashboards on inventory metrics, trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Identify slow-moving and obsolete inventory and provide recommendations for clearance or redistribution
  • Support cycle counting and physical inventory processes to maintain inventory accuracy
  • Analyze sales patterns and seasonality to recommend appropriate inventory positioning
  • Partner with retail store leadership to address inventory concerns, quality issues, and opportunities
  • Participate in system implementations and process improvement initiatives related to inventory management
  • Ensure compliance with inventory control policies and procedures
  • Manage credit claim processes and track resolution of quality-related financial impacts
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Analytics, Finance, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in inventory analysis, supply chain, or retail operations
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, advanced formulas, data modeling)
  • Experience with inventory management systems and retail ERP platforms
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret and analyze large, complex data sets
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and reporting
  • Effective communication skills with ability to present findings to various stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of retail inventory metrics and best practices
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and return processes
Additional Qualifications, preferred:
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
  • Knowledge of SAP, Oracle, or other enterprise inventory management systems
  • Previous experience in furniture or home furnishings retail
  • Understanding of demand planning and forecasting methodologies
  • Experience with SQL or other database query languages
  • Familiarity with quality control processes and credit claim management
  • Experience with liquidation or clearance merchandise management
  • Certification in supply chain or inventory management (APICS, CPIM, etc.)
  • Advanced degree (MBA or MS in Analytics, Supply Chain, or related field)
  • Experience working with manufacturing partners on quality issues
Work Environment: This position is located in a climate-controlled office environment with standard lighting and moderate noise levels typical of professional workspace settings. The role primarily involves sitting at a desk for extended periods while working with computers, phones, and other office equipment. The collaborative environment includes interaction with team members and may require attendance at meetings, conference calls, and cross-departmental communications during regular business hours.
