ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Buyer at Biofire, you'll play a critical role ensuring that our Supply Chain is positioned for long-term success - where winning means we have the right plans, Suppliers and material readiness to meet scaling production and evolving New Product Introduction (NPI) requirements.

You will own the operational planning needed to ensure material availability across the entire Product Development lifecycle - from Prototype builds to Volume Production. You will partner closely with Product Engineering, Global Sourcing and Supply Chain Management (GSSM), Production, Quality, and Finance to track Clear to Build (CTB) status, align on BOM readiness, and de-risk supply constraints to meet production timelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Day-to-day responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Supply Planning & Execution:

  • Forecast and manage supply plans across Biofire's Bill of Materials (BOM) in alignment with published Demand and Production Plans, ensuring optimal inventory levels to support production requirements;

  • Own the Procure-to-Pay process, ensuring purchase orders clearly distinguish firm and forecast quantities and that commitments are effectively communicated and aligned with suppliers;

  • Maintain high data integrity across purchase orders, item master data, and planning parameters to ensure system accuracy and execution reliability.

Engineering & Cross-Functional Partnership:

  • Partner with Engineering to ensure BOM accuracy, part readiness during Low Rate Initial Production / Ramp / Volume Production stages, and alignment between design intent and supply chain execution;

  • Serve as a connective tissue across Engineering, Production, Quality, Finance, and Supply Chain to align on material readiness and execution priorities.

Supplier Management & Performance:

  • Identify and mitigate supplier risks including lead time variability, and delivery performance issues;

  • Proactively resolve or escalate supplier-related issues impacting delivery, quality, or cost to ensure no disruption to production schedules;

  • Partner with Supply Chain teamson supplier-related risks, performance trends, and escalation support as needed.

On Time / In Full (OTIF) Performance Management:

  • Define, track, and report OTIF performance metrics at the supplier and part level;

  • Monitor supplier delivery performance against commit dates and required quantities, identifying gaps in OTIF fulfillment;

  • Develop and maintain reporting that highlights OTIF trends, root causes of misses, and systemic risks;

  • Communicate OTIF performance and deviations in regular Supply Chain reviews, driving visibility and accountability;

  • Partner with Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing, and suppliers to implement corrective actions and improve delivery performance.

Risk Management & Continuity Planning:

  • Identify Excess & Obsolescence (E&O), supply constraints, and other material risks; recommend mitigation strategies and lead execution to minimize business impact.

  • Develop and execute phase-in/phase-out strategies for parts, ensuring continuity of supply during transitions;

  • Own supply allocation strategies across demand streams to ensure alignment with program and business priorities.

Clear-to-Build (CTB) & Program Support:

  • Lead and maintain Clear-to-Build (CTB) processes, providing visibility into material readiness, constraints, and supplier risks;

  • Partner with Production and GSSMs to develop and refine CTB models incorporating detailed supply chain and part-level insights;

  • Communicate risks, constraints, and mitigation plans through regular cross-functional and executive-level reviews.

Cost Management & Financial Alignment:

  • Develop, maintain, and publish material cost models to support financial planning and decision-making;

  • Partner with Finance and Strategic Sourcing to track cost performance, identify risks, and support cost control initiatives.

Process Improvement and Tools:

  • Build and enhance scalable procurement tools, dashboards, and workflows to improve visibility, decision-making, and execution efficiency;

  • Drive continuous improvement of procurement systems, processes, and planning methodologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical or operational field (e.g. Engineering, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering). An MBA, Master's in Supply Chain or APICS CPIM Certification is a plus;

  • 3-5 years of experience in production planning, supply planning, manufacturing operations, or supply chain management. Practical experience in functions such as military, consulting, or finance operations will also be considered;

  • An understanding of product lifecycles, BOM development, and how upstream planning impacts downstream execution;

  • Ability to rapidly synthesize constantly evolving data from multiple different sources and form an conclusion about the greatest impacts to material readiness;

  • Ability to effectively communicate and build strong relationships with crossfunctional stakeholders;

  • Self-starter mindset - excited to build from scratch, lead without authority, and deliver results that unlock program execution.

The compensation range for this role is $110,000- $130,000/annual salary + stock options + benefits.

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. LOCATION

This is a full-time, salaried role. Our dog-friendly, state-of-the-art headquarters is located in beautiful Broomfield, Colorado, between Boulder and Denver. The team regularly engages in collaborative in-person sessions at our vibrant office space, but you will be offered the flexibility to work from home as needed.
