Please note: All internship positions are for course credit only. Interns must be currently enrolled college or university students.
Summary:
SAMA’s Intern will support the Museum’s Marketing department with targeted projects that will give them a unique perspective on the department’s day-to-day and long-term responsibilities. These projects include:
Conducting research on current and upcoming special exhibitions
Conducting research on artworks and artists in SAMA’s permanent collection
Draft compelling social media content to engage diverse audiences with SAMA's collection and exhibitions
Create a series of short-form videos tailored for the Museum’s digital platforms
Learning Objectives/Responsibilities:
By the conclusion of the internship, the intern should expect to:
Learn about the varied responsibilities of SAMA’s individual departments, with a special understanding of the Marketing department
Gain hands-on creative and administrative experience at a major non-profit arts organization
Enhance knowledge of Museum best practices and how various departments collaborate to achieve institutional goals
Learn about SAMA’s extensive collection
Draft content for the Museum’s various social media platforms
Create a series of short-form videos tailored for the Museum’s digital platforms
Contribute innovative ideas to promote SAMA’s exhibitions and programs to new and existing audiences
Draft press releases for upcoming events
Qualifications:
Strong work ethic with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects
Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a flexible environment
Highly organized and self-motivated
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment
Demonstrated interest in the visual arts or cultural institutions preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) is a plus
Interest in photography or/and videography is a plus
Physical Requirements:
The physical requirements of the position described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform successfully.
Walking, bending, climbing, stooping, and lifting up to 35 pounds.
Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time.
Physical ability to climb stairs and work in a multi-level building.
