Supervisor - Job Description Supervisors are the shift leaders who help bring structure, energy, and hospitality to life on the floor. They are responsible for helping each shift feel organized, welcoming, and well-led while supporting both the team and the guest experience in real time. A strong Supervisor is not just task-focused. They are highly visible on the floor, help direct traffic when the shop is busy, support team coordination, and create moments that make guests feel cared for. Supervisors set the tone of the shift through their presence, urgency, and attitude. Core ResponsibilitiesShift Leadership & Floor Presence Lead the shift with calm, visible, hands-on support Help direct the floor during rushes so service feels organized and guests know where to go Step in as a greeter, line director, or support lead when traffic builds or guests seem confused Maintain strong awareness of service flow, team deployment, product levels, and guest needs Support opening, mid-shift, and closing execution alongside managers Guest Experience & Hospitality Set the tone for a warm, upbeat, polished guest experience Conduct table touches unprompted to check on seated guests and create connection Offer samples when appropriate to create delight, support sales, and build guest relationships Help turn first-time guests into returning guests through personal, memorable service Handle guest concerns quickly, professionally, and with care Keep the front of house feeling welcoming, full, and well cared for Team Support & Real-Time Coaching Help team members stay focused, confident, and aligned throughout the shift Coach in the moment when service, urgency, communication, or standards need adjustment Help support communication between FOH and BOH Reinforce hospitality expectations, cleanliness, and professionalism by example Communicate clearly with Customer Service and BOH team members to keep service moving smoothly Escalate larger performance, staffing, or guest issues to AGM/GM as needed Operational Execution Help ensure stations are stocked, clean, and ready for service Lead shift transitions Support product presentation and help maintain full, appealing displays Monitor service flow, cleanliness, breaks, and team coverage during the shift Assist with basic cash handling, shift transitions, and closing tasks when assigned Help maintain adherence to food safety, sanitation, and operational procedures What Success Looks Like A successful Supervisor helps create shifts that feel: organized, not chaotic warm, not transactional energetic, not stressful guest-focused, not task-only They are the person guests notice when leadership is present and the person team members look to when the shift gets busy. Successful Supervisors: keep the floor flowing smoothly make guests feel welcomed and remembered coach and support the team in real time create positive energy without losing operational control model the kind of leadership expected at the next level Skills and Qualities Positive energy with the ability to influence the tone of the shift and floor Strong hospitality instincts and natural floor presence Able to stay calm and confident in busy, fast-paced environments Strong communication and people skills Good judgment and situational awareness Reliable, organized, and hands-on Comfortable giving direction and stepping in where needed Requirements Prior experience in a bakery, cafe, restaurant, or hospitality setting required Previous leadership, keyholder, or shift lead experience preferred Ability to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods Ability to support both guest-facing and operational tasks throughout the shift
