General Manager - Wine Shop

About Us
We're a wine & spirits shop on the Upper West Side, focused on warm & knowledgeable service, smaller producers, and organic/biodynamic wines where possible. Our mission is to dramatically simplify the world of wine, making it easier to find the bottles you love, while building community along the way. We're two years in, with a growing wine club shipping to ~35 states, emerging e-commerce, and a strong in-store base.

We're hiring a General Manager to lead daily store operations, scale our wine club and shipping programs, run in-store events, and own the customer experience.

Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day store operations and ensure a warm, knowledgeable customer experience through staff management
Manage daily purchasing, filling categories when needed
Own monthly wine club fulfillment (local + national shipping)
Run shipping operations: pick/pack/label workflow, exception handling
Execute in-store events: weekly tastings, monthly wine club pickup parties, private events
Oversee inventory systems, receiving, backstock organization, and physical counts
Hire and train part-time sales associates

Qualifications
3-5+ years of wine retail or hospitality experience, including staff management and purchasing responsibilities
Solid wine knowledge and a love for making wine feel accessible (certifications welcome but not required)
Strong organizational skills; a calm problem-solver, confident with POS systems and spreadsheets
Clear communicator and team-oriented leader
Able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
Must be 21+ and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
