Assistant Warehouse Management Trainee Temp to Perm Norfolk VA Pay: 22.00-25.00 Depending on experience. Our client is seeking an Assistant Warehouse Management Trainee to support the daily operations of our fast-paced fulfillment center. In this role, you won't just work the flooryou will learn to run the business. You will balance hands-on logistics (inventory integrity, team scheduling, and safety compliance) with critical administrative operations, including freight cost management and productivity reporting. This is a fast-track opportunity designed to build the next generation of our warehouse leadership team. What You'll Do Lead & Train: Supervise daily floor activities, direct dispatch/driver teams, and manage shift schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime. Protect Inventory: Maintain strict bin-location accuracy, coordinate physical counts, and conduct root-cause analysis on any stock discrepancies. Manage Logistics & Costs: Review freight quotes, process carrier claims, and research cost-effective shipping methods to optimize our PBI freight budget. Enforce Safety & Compliance: Oversee building maintenance inspections, ensure weekly forklift logs are completed, and strictly enforce safety procedures. Drive Improvement: Compile daily productivity reports and build monthly operational evaluation slides for the management team. What We Are Looking For Experienced Logistics Professional: 2+ years of experience in a warehouse lead, inventory specialist, or logistics coordinator role. Problem Solvers: Experience with root-cause analysis for inventory shortages or shipping damages. Data & Cost-Conscious: Comfortable reviewing freight invoices, disputing carrier charges, and generating clear shift reports. Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and standard office tools (Excel/PowerPoint) for reporting.
