Job Description Summary: The Purchasing Manager for the Ambulatory Infusion Center (AIC) is responsible for managing purchasing activities to ensure timely and accurate ordering and delivery of supplies, equipment, and medications that support patient care and operational efficiency. This individual contributor role works closely with internal teamsespecially pharmacy and clinical operationsto align purchasing with patient schedules, inventory needs, and medication logistics. This role does not include supervisory or contract negotiation duties. Job Description: Job Responsibilities: Execute and monitor purchase orders for medications, medical supplies, equipment, and other operational items required for AIC operations. Track and maintain inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted patient care across AIC locations. Collaborate with pharmacy teams to ensure timely delivery of AIS (ambulatory infusion service) medications to the appropriate AIC sites based on patient treatment schedules. Coordinate white bagging processes with specialty pharmacies and/or drug manufacturers for patients receiving free drug or patient assistance medications. Serve as the point of contact for tracking, confirming, and facilitating the receipt of white bag medications at the correct AIC location. Communicate regularly with vendors and internal stakeholders to confirm order status, delivery timelines, and resolve discrepancies or delays. Maintain accurate purchasing records, including order confirmations, receipts, and adjustments in inventory tracking systems. Support product substitutions, backorder management, and par level maintenance as needed to prevent disruptions in care. Work in alignment with internal procedures and compliance standards, ensuring purchasing supports both operational and regulatory goals. Assist with purchasing-related reporting and documentation. Supervisory Responsibilities (YES or NO) NO Basic Education and/or Experience Requirements High School Degree or GED required. Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, MIS, Supply Chain preferred. 3+ years of experience in purchasing, inventory, or supply chain coordination, preferably in a healthcare or clinical environment. Basic Qualifications & Interests (BQIs) Familiarity with medication distribution and specialty pharmacy practices preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with inventory or purchasing systems is a plus. Excellent organizational and time-management skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across departments. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-site environment. Travel Requirements (if required): None Preferred Qualifications & Interests (PQIs) Experience supporting infusion centers, specialty pharmacy operations, or ambulatory care. Knowledge of healthcare supply chain compliance and documentation requirements. Familiarity with white bagging and manufacturer-sponsored drug assistance programs.
