Shipping and Receiving Specialist Job Description The role is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and documenting all incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). This position involves handling material movement throughout the facility, supporting pick-and-pack operations, maintaining clean and organized warehouse areas, and verifying product, lot numbers, and truck conditions prior to shipment. Accurate paperwork and adherence to company procedures are essential. Responsibilities Receive and unload freight manually or using pallet jacks and forklifts. Verify items received against purchase orders. Deliver and retrieve product to and from work and storage areas. Coordinate and plan receiving locations. Track, store, and load recycling and other waste materials. Maintain clean and orderly warehouse areas, especially shipping, receiving, and pick-and-pack zones. Package, wrap, and ship outgoing items according to SOPs. Verify that trucks picking up orders are clean and free of odors. Confirm products and lot numbers match the order before shipment. Assist with pick-and-pack operations as needed. Accurately complete all required paperwork. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience in accurate order picking. Ability to lift up to 55 pounds. Ability to stand for 8 hours. Familiarity with shipping systems. Experience in food production, food processing, food manufacturing, food industry, food distribution, and food packaging. Forklift operation skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Strong skills in teamwork, coordination, organization, planning, and time management. Ability to accurately maintain inventory records, documentation, and reporting. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety standards, and related operational procedures preferred. Dependability and personal accountability to complete tasks on time and with a high level of accuracy. Ability to follow instructions from multiple sources and adapt to fast-changing priorities in a production environment. Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work area. Reliable transportation and a history of excellent attendance. Strict adherence to OSHA requirements and safety rules and regulations.
