at Blodgett Ovens in Essex Junction, Vermont, United States Job Description Job Description: Buyer / Forecast Planner About the Role The Buyer / Forecast Planner is a critical link in our manufacturing process, responsible for the strategic balance between material availability and inventory efficiency. This role requires a blend of analytical forecasting and tactical procurement to ensure that production lines never stop while keeping carrying costs optimized. You will act as the primary liaison between our suppliers and our production floor, managing the lifecycle of materials from the initial forecast to the final delivery. Key Responsibilities Strategic Forecasting & Inventory Optimization + Demand Planning: Develop and maintain accurate forecasts by analyzing historical data and production trends to meet shifting manufacturing demands. + Inventory Control: Monitor and optimize stock flow to ensure lean inventory levels are maintained without compromising production continuity. + Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify potential shortages or delivery delays; collaborate with production leads and management to develop contingency plans when commitments are at risk. Tactical Procurement & Negotiation + Strategic Sourcing: Procure materials and services in a timely, cost-effective manner, ensuring all items meet quality and technical specifications. + Supplier Relations: Build and maintain high-performance partnerships with key vendors. Negotiate prices, lead times, and contracts to maximize value. + Performance Monitoring: Evaluate supplier performance through data-driven metrics, ensuring they consistently meet requirements for cost, quality, and on-time delivery. Supply Chain Administration + System Integrity: Maintain and audit the ERP system (Infor CSI ) in accordance with company policies to ensure data accuracy for all purchasing records and lead times. + Issue Resolution: Lead the resolution of discrepancies regarding material costs, quality rejections, or accounts payable issues with suppliers. + Continuous Improvement: Analyze supply chain data to identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements that reduce waste and lead times. Qualifications and Essential Functions + Industry Experience: 3+ years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or forecasting within an industrial manufacturing environment. + Education: Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). + Technical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel is a must) and experience with ERP /Supply Chain Management software. + Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable buying plans. + Communication & Negotiation: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate difficult negotiations and maintain professional interactions with vendors and internal teams. + Adaptability: Proven ability to deliver results and maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
