Job Purpose

Oversee purchasing activities involving raw materials, component parts and supplies. Maintains files of material/supplies purchased for follow-up checks on delivery. Maintains communications with suppliers and internal departments regarding status of products ordered. Process purchase orders, investigate new suppliers and research prices.

Role - Typical Duties:

  • Research and maintain stock requirements.
  • Place orders for requested parts.
  • Maintain positive vendor relationships and promotes relationship. Negotiates terms and conditions where applicable.
  • Oversees accurate database maintenance of vendor, items, and purchase order files relative to pricing, terms, availability, obsolescence, due dates, etc.
  • Responsibility for timely delivery of product and minimizing delays.
  • Coordinate product status with requesting department or technician.
  • Process and maintain all records pertaining to each purchase order, including verifying pricing to invoices received, payment terms
  • Other duties as related to the job.

Skills and Training Required

  • Minium of three (3) year degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Inventory control experience preferred.
  • Computer experience with database, spreadsheets, word processing, MRP System.
  • Must be able to work with numbers and calculations.
  • Well organized with an attention to detail work ethic.
  • Strong verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to negotiate better deals with suppliers.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
