Buyer/Purchasing Manager Job Description Join our team as a Buyer/Purchasing Manager, where you will play a vital role in overseeing our purchasing team and ensuring the smooth operation of our procurement processes. We are a leading supplier of Electromechanical Systems designed to support military missions worldwide, offering highly engineered products for our service members. Responsibilities Oversee the purchasing team, consisting of two buyers. Research and compare suppliers, goods, and services to find the best options. Select suppliers based on reliability, product quality, and cost efficiency. Monitor inventory levels and business requirements to determine purchase needs. Request cost proposals and negotiate contracts and pricing. Prepare and process purchase orders efficiently. Maintain accurate records of transactions, purchase orders, receipts, and payments. Schedule and verify purchase deliveries, expediting delayed orders as necessary. Build and maintain positive, long-term relationships with suppliers. Resolve issues related to shipments, inventory returns, replacements, and credit arrangements. Work independently within established procedures associated with the job function. Essential Skills Experience in procurement. High school diploma or GED required. Previous experience as a purchasing manager or purchasing agent. Proficiency in enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and inventory management software programs. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Strong organization and documentation skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Degree in business administration, procurement, or a related field preferred. Experience working with large bill of materials (BOMs), specifically with 1000+ items. Work Environment The work environment includes handling large bills of materials (BOMs) with over 1000 items, requiring attention to detail and efficiency. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $45.00/hr.
