Position Summary:
As the concessions cashier at Keeneland Hospitality, you are responsible for providing exceptional customer service while efficiently handling food and beverage transactions using the point-of-sale system at concession stands during race meets and special events. This position plays a key role in delivering high quality guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet guests courteously and provide friendly, professional service.
- Accurately process cash, credit, and mobile payments using a point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Handle food and beverage orders quickly, accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain quality and production standards for all menu items ensuring that food and beverage is stored properly and fresh before serving to guests.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked concession stand area.
- Maintain cleanliness of food preparation and service areas, including workstations, utensils, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and alcohol service regulations.
- Count and reconcile cash drawers before and after each shift.
- Communicate effectively with guests, team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of concession area including job duties assigned by supervisor.
- Adhere to Keeneland hospitality approved uniform and dress code standards.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years of age (18+ for roles involving alcohol service).
- Prior cashier or customer service experience preferred, but not required.
- Basic math skills in relation to cash handling, credit transactions and product inventory.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with team members, volunteers, management and guests in a clear, professional, and respectful manner.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
- Ability to speak, read and write in English.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Reliable transportation and punctuality are a must.
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays during race meets and events.
Licensing Requirements:
- A valid Fayette County Food Handler’s License is required for all food and beverage staff. Must be obtained prior to the first scheduled shift. A Kentucky Horse Racing Commission license is required for all track workers. This license will be provided to you on behalf of Keeneland upon hire.
