MOBIS Technical Center of North America is the Research & Development Center for Hyundai MOBIS, a Tier 1 supplier and an affiliate under Hyundai Motor Group. MOBIS produces and supplies a wide variety of automotive components to customers including component modules (chassis, cockpit and front-end module), core system, eco-friendly and DAS-mechatronics. Mobis delivers the design and development of advanced engineering, autonomous driving, infotainment, component modules, safety, brake and steering systems, lamp, ICS/electronics and software development solutions that consider the safety and convenience of our customers as well as the future.

Requirements

The position of Purchasing Manager will oversee a group of commodities and responsible for building up localized purchasing department and procurement management functions, including purchasing procedure and policy (GOS), supplier relationship management, quoting, strategy development, negotiation, supplier selection and escalation of issues. A key focus being cost reduction opportunities and NAFTA sub-supplier strategy.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier relationships, ensuring they meet Mobis's standards for quality, cost, delivery, and innovation.
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the purchasing activities of the Sales Department.
  • Lead the sourcing strategies ensuring alignment globally. Partner with the right suppliers at the right price.
  • Identify and develop suppliers for key parts withing your categories.
  • Lead the negotiation of contracts and pricing.
  • Support new business wins, launch and supplier/part development.
  • Lead Cost savings and process improvement actions.
  • Lead supplier escalation calls.
  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis to stay ahead of industry trends, identifying opportunities for cost savings and technological advancements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, and operations teams to ensure alignment between supplier capabilities and Mobis product requirements.
  • Lead problem solving and issue resolution of defective or unacceptable goods or services (non-directed materials) with all stakeholders to determine cause of problem; take corrective and preventative action.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs and scorecards for measuring supplier performance and contribution to Mobis strategic objectives.
  • Development of a team and leading commodity managers in execution of the objectives.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field, with a focus on the automotive technology sectors including experience in commodities such as electrical, electrification, chassis, plastics, lighting, optical etc..
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Chassis, ePT, electrical module technologies with a strong network of supplier contacts for NAFTA region.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of driving strategy and delivering results.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Agile and adaptable, with the capability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving industry.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Korean language a plus with experience working within a Korean culture.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Position requires occasional or frequent moderate physical activity.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

A typical work week is 45 hours/week.

Working hours for employees are flexible with a typical day starting 7am- 9am M-F.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Office work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.

Stress may occur periodically.

Occasional international travel

Frequent local travel
