POSITION SUMMARY:
A cashier's first responsibility is to check out customers in an efficient, accurate, and
pleasant manner to ensure customer requirements are met and build customer loyalty
by providing unparalleled customer service.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Adheres to the co-ops seven guiding principles and mission.
* Regular, reliable and consistent attendance.
* Cooperate and communicate with all co-op staff members.
* Stay informed by reading all internal communications.
* Know and follow all Co-op policies and procedures.
* Establish appropriate priorities, manage and use time well.
* Learn and adapt to new procedures and tasks.
* Handle job responsibilities in an accurate, thorough, professional and friendly
manner.
* Ability to multi-task and switch tasks mid-stream to help others.
* Help to train and support other staff members.
Customer Service/Store Operations:
* Actively support a culture of safety which includes, but is not limited to, food
safety, Team Member safety and customer safety.
* Display a commitment to learn about food and share food knowledge with
fellow team members and customers.
* Every interaction, whether with an internal or external customer is to be
conducted with the highest degree of integrity and with an understanding that

* Maintain cleanliness of register area/work area, floor (to ensure safety), and
sanitation regulations are met.
* Maintain cleanliness of store entryway, outside area, and parking area. Includes
but is not limited to cleaning tables, sweeping, collecting carts and returning
them to their designated area.
* Actively greet and welcome each customer with efficiency and friendliness,
directing them to (or opening) register as quickly as possible.
* Ringing up customers' orders by scanning product and verifying pricing.
* Finalize sale and collect payment by totaling order, deducting for coupons, and
accepting tender from customer.
* Conduct business, at all times, with a clear understanding that customer service
is a significant point of difference for the Co-op.
* Direct customer inquiries to customer service department.
* Cash out, set-up and balance cash drawers.
* Handle all customer returns.
* Any other duties that may be needed during the course of business.
RequirementsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
* High School diploma or equivalent
* At least one year experience in a retail/grocery store environment preferred.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to be able to stand,
walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of
10-60 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity,
including ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment. The associate
frequently is required to stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
Regularity and consistency of attendance is essential to ensure high quality service and
ultimately a productive department and company.
