Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Deli Clerk is responsible for providing service that exceeds the expectations of customers by performing the following duties (other duties may be assigned):
- Prepares Deli/Prepared Foods department for store opening and closing.
- Assists customers with product selection. Shares product knowledge with customers. Makes recommendations and suggestions based on customer needs.
- Prepares, cuts, wraps, weighs, tares, prices, and presents Deli/Prepared Foods products.
- Stocks and maintains Deli/Prepared Foods cases and stations.
- Processes customers' made-to-order and special order items accurately and expeditiously.
- Assists with food preparation and production.
- Stocks, rotates, and faces products with attention to product quality and expiration dates.
- Receives and unloads merchandise; checks quality, count, and condition. Communicates any issues to management and/or the merchandising team.

The Deli Clerk is expected to provide customer service that is extra ordinary and exceeds the expectations of our customers. They are required to follow established policies and guidelines that go beyond simply smiling and greeting customers. Going above and beyond encompasses attitudes, respect, and flexibility. The Deli Clerk is expected to have a positive "can-do" attitude; treat others with respect; and easily adjust to changes in the workplace.
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the Deli Clerk is regularly required to stand for long periods; walk; frequently use of hands; hands to finger; and handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The Deli Clerk occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms. The Deli Clerk is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The individual must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision.
