Head Cashier WHAT YOU DO Provide world-class customer service by delivering the four core service principles: puts the book in the customers hand, offers to order merchandise, offers the Member program and fast cashiering. Ensure fast cashiering rules are followed, schedules backup and manages breaks. Partner with management to resolve customer issues. Ensure operational standards are followed by accurately balancing registers, authorizing returns and exchanges, completing daily deposits, tracking Memberships, and consistently maintaining accurate cash logs. Offer the Barnes and Noble, Member program and gift cards and mentions Barnes & Noble.com to customers, acting as a role model for booksellers. Help to orient and train new booksellers on cashiering, ensuring a smooth acclimation to the store and our bookselling culture. WHAT’S REQUIRED At least two years of supervisor experience, preferably in a retail environment. Strong analytical skills and knowledge of the competition to identify opportunities and drive sales. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to establish focused direction and execute the workload. Work on the selling floor, requiring physical activity. Flexible schedule-our stores are open daily, which requires early morning, evening, weekend and holiday availability.
