DESCRIPTION:The Kinderbliss Senior Buyer is responsible for creating an exciting and timely product assortment that meets and exceeds the sales volume and profit for their departments. This candidate will need to deliver the sales and profit plan for assigned classes through the precise execution of a well-conceived merchandise strategy. They intuitively respond to customer feedback, market trends and develop action plans that drive category specific growth and increased profitability.This person is also directly responsible for the career development of their own team of assistant buyers. The Buyer reports directly to the CEO.RESPONSIBILITIES:Merchandising• Oversee and drive the development of a compelling assortment in children’s apparel, children’s gear, maternity, bath, furniture and feeding based on strategies that meet/exceed sales volume and profits.• Research and develop trend forecast seasonally based on color, textiles, body shapes and themes.• Expand product line to target markets as indicated by ongoing analysis of sales and trends.• Search out and test emerging trends for viability in our market.• Ensure key fashion trends are well represented in the assortment.• Shop all necessary markets.• Manage inventory and merchandise flow.• Negotiate pricing and terms to insure mark up goals are achieved.• Present product selections and storylines for final approval.• Work with merchandising team on photo shoots to insure product is styled, accessorized and communicated as planned.Organization & Analysis• Oversee the buying team, in conjunction with a merchandising sales analyst to indicate new merchandising opportunities, margins, turnover, return on investment and otb.• Weekly - hold team meeting to address current state of inventory, best and worst sellers, markdown suggestions, reorder opportunities and weekly team goals.• Monthly - meet with retail merchandising analyst to determine buying opportunities and otb, report monthly the figures to retail merchandising analyst for meetings.• Manage buying team on all aspects of sample management from request, to photo shoot, to product information, to return of samples.Product Information• Work with copywriter and merchandiser to develop creative, informational story lines and product copy.• Drive and understand the private label process for product development.• Contribute to continuous improvement in efficiencies, execution, brand/product positioning, timing and overall quality.Communication• Be able to own and articulate a clear vision; as well as lead and inspire with integrity• Develop sound and enjoyable working relationships with colleagues and the vendor community• Mediate for design and production• Partner with vendors and design to stay current on fashion trends• Work with marketing manager and visual team for all channels to communicate concepts and trend information to stores – new set ups, new vendors, new looks, new itemsCreative Development• Shop competition and inspirational stores• Read all pertinent trade and consumer publications• Challenge the buying team to interpret seasonal trends for all channelsREQUIREMENTS• Experience buying for children’s (infant, toddler, layette, maternity, apparel; accessories; and/or children’s gear)• True entrepreneurial risk mentality• Strong communication skills• Creativity in problem solving• Strong training and leadership abilities
Description:
It is the primary responsibility of the Retail Buyer for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors. Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM MIRAGE policies, practices, and procedures.
